Farmers Market at Ix, Holiday Season, Dec. 9, 2023

We love and revere our local farmers for feeding us all year long. We owe our health and well being to the nutritious food that they grow. However, now that the fields are dormant, let’s give a shout out to our local artists and creators in this Holiday Season. Pottery, tea, and herbs for consumption or skin care, honey and beeswax based soap, skin, and food products, Kombucha, jams, syrups, sauces and fruit butters, and CBD products are on the list Art forms include Glassblowing , Pine Resin Sculptures, print art, weaving, beadwork, leatherwork, woodwork, tie dye, sewing, needlework and jewelry. Gifts made with words include poetry and publishing. Holiday greenery and decorations are available from Pies and Produce (Elena), Gathered Threads, and Barbara Fleming Boxwood wreaths. Some of the farmers have seasonal items, too.

The variety of arts and craft vendors will change again next week, with baskets, woodwork coming in, so stay tuned. The bakers and prepared food vendors also offer products that make great gifts, from healthy crackers and snacks (Good Phyte Foods) to cookies, cakes, holiday breads, and coffee beans.

Frozen food like Big Soup, Cold Country Salmon and Ryba’s Pierogi will keep. This is our last week for the year to have Ryba’s Pierogi .

We hope you find something to give to your loved ones and support local small businesses at the same time

SNAP and VA Fresh Match make the market affordable for everyone. 2023 Fresh Match expires Dec. 23. The 2024 match will be available on Jan. 13.

We have two lists this week. One for the arts and craft vendors, and one for all the vendors. Happy Shopping! Kanks Store was added to the list after publishing.
