Farmers Market at Ix, March 9, 2024

Time is Marching along! (sorry!)

The spring rain continues to be our companion at the market, but don’t let it stop you from enjoying the freshest of greens, late winter apples, winter squashes, root vegetables, and turnips and radishes. The growing cycle is excellerating! Baked goods from Bee Conscious, Little Hat Creek, Good Phyte, Baker No Bakery, the Homestead Oven, Meryem’s Homemade, Stroopwafels, and Bubble Cloud, our youth entrepreneurs will be there. Hot breakfast items from Ryba’s Pierogies, Mexican Tacos, SFG Foods (check his menu- it varies), Hog Haven, Focaccia Divina, Ambrosia, Sweet Jane’s Kitchen, Angel’s Afghan Cuisine, Empanadas Market, The Pie Guy, and Tico Loco are available. Although some of our artist vendors’ products made of paper can’t withstand the water, many of the potters, soap makers, or fabric artisans will brave the weather (so far!)

This week, arriving to the market may be impacted by the Haven 4&8 K run. Check their website for the Haven Run route.

Market Central staff recently virtually attended a three day Farmers Market management conference in San Diego and gleaned so many ideas about better organization, environmental programs, food access programs, marketing, emergency management and more! We hope to apply what we have learned at our market. If anyone is interested in farmers market development, the Market Central Board is a good place to start. You can contact us any time for giving feedback, volunteering, or serving on the board. We love market research and community involvement.

As always, your support of local farms, food and art is what makes the market happen. For those with low resources: access local food with SNAP and double value VA Fresh Match. Ask us how!

See you on Saturday, even in the rain.

View this link and click on Mar 9 to find out about vendors who have registered for tomorrow’s market. Please be aware that due to the rain, there may be late cancellations. The list is live and will update as the cancellations occur.
