Farmers Market at Ix, April 6, 2024, 8:00 a.m to noon, Ix Art Park

The official spring season starts at the Market at Ix this week. We end our winter hours and now open from 8:00 to 12:00. We have slowly been building up to the return of most of the farmers. This week Broadhead Mountain, Whisper Hill, Second Mountain and Encanto Homestead return to the market to join Singing Earth, Gathered Threads, Little Hat Creek, Orion Family Farms, Agriberry and Sweet Greens who have been with us through winter. Free Union Grass Farm, Chevy Chase, Inglewood, Hog Haven, Ternion Springs, Wanders Hill are current meat and egg vendors. Madison Mushrooms and Rappahannock River Mushrooms are also setting up. A new farm this week is Constance Lea Arness. The Spice Titan joins us from Roanoke, and as the first Saturday of the month, Deep Roots Milling, and Nona’s Italian Cucina joins us. There are many more vendors with interested products. Please peruse the Marketspread website, linked below.

SNAP may be used to purchase all eligible food and is doubled in value with Fresh Match Coupons for fruits, vegetables, food-producing plants and seeds. The season for buying plants at the market is upon us! The safe frost free date in our area is May 1.

The UVA Biology Outreach and Inclusion Program, a group of students who enjoy sharing the love of biology and science, returns this week for their 4th year! This week, the Larsen Lab of Environmental Neuroscience brings us a program on social behavior! Get educated and entertained by our UVA neighbors!

For those looking for bike racks, there are some small ones on the walkway near Brazos, and another near the Continuing Education side of the Ix building. The one near the sculpture work is sometimes obstructed by a vendor due to space being taken by work being done on the sculptures.

Thanks for supporting local food and arts through the winter, and we look forward to seeing you this spring.
